Personal Bio
Bethany is a cross-sector social-impact architect who has spent two decades turning strangers into teammates. As Compass Pro Bono’s CEO she mobilizes 1,000+ professionals each year to strengthen local nonprofits, forging bridges across race, class, and sector lines. Elected to the Falls Church City School Board in 2023, she champions policies that help every student feel seen.
Previously Bethany unified the international America SCORES youth development network and doubled the reach of its flagship DC SCORES; founded City Hall Fellows, a local government national service corps embedding recent graduates in city agencies; laid the groundwork for Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper as a White House Fellow. Earlier she was an IP litigator.
Honors include Washington Business Journal Nonprofit Director of the Year and Center for Nonprofit Advancement CEO Excellence. Bethany writes, speaks, and teaches about civic engagement, social entrepreneurship, and inclusive leadership at UMD and the Sports & Entertainment Impact Collective.
A Harvard JD and University of Pennsylvania alumna, she lives outside Washington, D.C., with her husband, two teenage daughters, and a menagerie of pets.
