Village Micro Fund aims to create as much economic opportunity as there is genius in Black and Brown communities through teaching, investing, and supporting Black entrepreneurs. As Village Micro Fund fills the information and network gaps of these entrepreneurs, it connects them with its community of investors. Village Micro Fund creates community residents who are both customers and investors by offering cooperative alternatives to traditional financial institutions, leveraging technology to remove as many obstacles as possible for under-resourced neighborhoods, and developing an international market for investing in small Black and Brown businesses.
Personal Bio
Donte Miller organizes, educates, and invests in local Black and Brown businesses. As a co-founder and executive director at the Village, Donte is passionate about the intersection of entrepreneurship, community, and technology, and uses that to inform the strategy and direction of the Village. Previously, Donte worked at Goldman Sachs, Google, the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, the Atlanta Micro Fund, and Truly Living Well Urban Farm. His work has been covered by Google, NPR, Bitter Southerner, Black Enterprise, and Atlanta magazine. Forbes named him one of its top 30 under 30 in 2022, Atlanta magazine named him one of the top 500 most influential leaders in both 2021 and 20022, and he is also a Good Trouble honoree and a 2021 Rubinger Fellow.
