bold idea
Defend rights to freedom, protection, and justice for asylum seekers by confronting racial inequity, authoritarianism, and injustice and organizing abuse reporting, legal aid, advocacy, campaigns, and labor organizing.
organization overview
Global Asylum Seeker Human Rights Defenders Committee (GASHCD) challenges manipulation of the global asylum system, anti-Black racism, and neo-colonial servitude so asylum seekers can exercise their rights to freedom, protection, and justice.
GASHDC provides a private communication technology platform for human rights abuse reporting, legal aid efficacy, trauma treatment, public awareness campaigns, asylum law advocacy, and abuse documentation. GASHDC’s webpage, Asylum Voices, is a public venue to share firsthand stories of racial inequity and injustices experienced by asylum seekers. GASHDC steers the global union of asylum seeker workers and promotes union organizing at workplaces to build a strong global trade union movement.
Personal Bio
Living behind my family, I left my country where I faced persecution and grave torture as a human rights defender and writer and sought for asylum in Germany. Asylum seekers arrive in the so-called safety countries overwhelmed with emotional experiences of torture. Their faces are still engulfed in fear, anger, insecurity and sadness. Despite being engulfed by such hysterical emotional experiences, asylum seekers are met with protracted asylum procedures, racism, inequity, and poor living conditions which further exacerbate their predicament. Deeply traumatized by the asylum procedural and commotion in compacted shared asylum accommodation, I founded the Global Asylum Seeker Human Rights Defenders Committee to address the critical asylum embedded human rights abuses. Asylum is currently a global phenomenon that needs to address the human rights of people associated.
I’m a grant writer, an advocate writer, and a writer of horror and crime for young adults. I’m also an Echoing Green fellow and a fellow of the Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen, a German foundation that grants respite and support to outstanding artists from all over the world
