Personal Bio

Juliana Busasi is a medical doctor, healthtech entrepreneur, and executive director of TAHMEF, a digital healthcare organization. Raised by her grandparents, Juliana witnessed her clinician grandfather come from work every evening to attend to neighbors who could not afford hospital care. This experience inspired her to not only become a doctor but also to improve the lives of underserved communities through healthcare.

She founded TAHMEF as a medical student to bridge socioeconomic gaps limiting access to quality healthcare services among Tanzanians working in informal sectors, youth, and rural poor Indigenous communities. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Juliana pivoted to adopting digital technology to sustain and scale her impact, which has tripled annually and continues to grow. Juliana is an Acumen Fellow and an Afrika Kommt! Fellow.
