Sajhe Sapne launches the careers of rural young women in India. It shifts the focus from survival-based basic livelihoods to agency and careers. Sajhe Sapne provides trauma-informed, year-long job and leadership training to women in villages who pass 12th grade. It then matches them with employers and provides a life-long peer network to sustain their career growth. Alumni typically become the first steady earners in their families. They gain economic mobility, delay marriages, and become decision makers in their families. Using public narrative, evidence, and coalition building, Sajhe Sapne unlocks government and business partnerships to create Learn, Earn, Excel regional movements that invest in rural women’s dreams.
Personal Bio
Surabhi Yadav is the founder and CEO of Sajhe Sapne. Her roots in rural Bundelkhand and her journey to world class universities inspired her to create joyful innovations for rural women. She is also the creator of Basanti: Women at Leisure, which is a vibrant archive of visuals of women and girls enjoying their free time. It pioneered a new language and gaze to see time, space, and leisure as feminist issues. Her thought leadership has been recognized by The Guardian, TEDx, Vogue India, Al Jazeera, the GP Birla Fellowship of Women Leaders, and the Acumen India Fellowship. She was awarded Graduate of the Last Decade by IIT Delhi and the Distinguished Alumni Award by the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley.
