Break the Cycle is an innovative nonprofit organization whose mission is to end domestic violence by working proactively with youth. Break the Cycle furthers this mission by providing young people, ages 12 to 22, with preventive education, free legal services, advocacy, and support. The organization’s law-based prevention and education program provides vital domestic violence information and healthy relationship skills, and teaches youth about their legal rights and responsibilities. Break the Cycle’s early intervention legal services assist young victims of domestic violence in their transition from victim to survivor, offering confidential and free legal advice, counsel and representation to youth experiencing abuse.
Personal Bio
Meredith Blake is a nationally recognized public interest attorney and social entrepreneur with twenty years of experience in creating positive social change. Founder and CEO of Cause & Affect, a strategy consulting and management firm in the business of high-impact social change, Meredith works with clients to create social action campaigns that use entertainment media as a catalyst for movement-building – delivering superior value to businesses, social enterprises and influencers in entertainment and media. Prior to launching Cause & Affect, Meredith worked as Executive Vice President at Participant Productions, where she oversaw the social action campaign accompanying Vice President Al Gore’s Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth. Before building the social action department at Participant, Meredith spent ten years running Break the Cycle, the nonprofit organization she founded to empower youth to end domestic violence. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband Jeremy and their two sons.
