Transform the growth and potential of LGBTQ+ and Black, Indigenous, and people of color survivors of domestic trafficking and exploitation through survivor-centered aftercare support that provides barrier-free access to mental health services, education, and financial stability.

You Are More Than, Inc. (YAMT), seeks to change the way marginalized adult survivor communities are supported within aftercare services throughout New Jersey and nationally. As a survivor-led organization, it equips survivors with the tools and skills they need to thrive within the mental health, education, and financial wellness sectors of aftercare support.

By providing individual and group counseling, grant funding for higher education, and direct investments in survivor-led small businesses, YAMT brings a survivor-centered, trauma-informed, holistic approach to aftercare services throughout marginalized survivor communities.

Personal Bio

Ashante Taylorcox is the founder and executive director of You Are More Than, Inc. (YAMT), a survivor-led organization supporting marginalized survivors of exploitation and domestic trafficking in New Jersey. As a survivor of familial trafficking, and a systems-involved foster child, Ashante has always been a fierce advocate for survivor communities throughout the tristate area. Over the past eight years, Ashante has worked to create safer environments within the survivor community by improving support services for adult survivors, particularly within mental health settings. Through community collaboration, Ashante has invested in the survivor community through direct service work, curricula development, and the training of mental health providers throughout New Jersey and nationally.

Ashante holds a master’s degree in counseling for mental health and wellness and a post-master’s advanced certificate in LGBT health, education, and social services from New York University.
