Goliath Robotics (GR) is a Ghanaian company on a mission to improve quality of life and independence for wheelchair users in Ghana. GR designs, develops, and manufactures affordable and rugged assistive technology that is specifically tailored for local context, such as the Franco X1 electric wheelchair — their flagship product. To ensure the specific needs of Ghanaian wheelchair users and their families are being met, GR prioritizes partnerships with local healthcare providers and invests in research and development.
Personal Bio
Barnabas Nomo is co-founder and chief executive officer of Goliath Robotics. He spent his early life in Eastern Ghana, where he was introduced to engineering and computer science through a transformative summer camp. He broke into the Ghana tech scene at age 16 and gained international recognition. He has since made strides in engineering by pioneering high-impact projects such as West Africa’s first-ever locally manufactured ventilators.
Barnabas is passionate about building communities and has organized some of the biggest mobile gaming tournaments in West Africa. At Goliath, he leads the development of the smart electronic controllers that power wheelchairs. He also works directly with families, healthcare professionals, and disabled people to build a future of accessibility for all.
