SOLAx is a WhatsApp-based online academy tailored to Afghanistan’s technological realities, offering self-paced education to Afghan girls at home, thus bypassing the Taliban’s decree against attending school. SOLAx delivers the Afghan curriculum, including ESL and other courses, in engaging microlearning modules through a WhatsApp chatbot. Accessible globally, SOLAx supports English, Dari, and Pashto, requiring only a smartphone and a basic internet for students to join.

Personal Bio

Mati Amin is the co-founder of SOLAx. He leads the development of both SOLAx’s curriculum and online platform to expand education for Afghan girls globally. A seasoned edtech entrepreneur, he sold his language learning company to a prominent U.S. publisher. Mati is passionate about technologies that not only catalyze significant change but also dismantle barriers, ensuring accessible education for all. He holds an undergraduate degree in economics from Williams College, a master’s degree in finance from Babson Graduate School of Business, and a master of education from Harvard University.
