Matamba Film Labs for Women is an African New Media Organisation based in Zimbabwe. Matamba Film lBas’vision is to build a creative economy by empowering creative women and disrupting content development through use of new media technology. Matamba Equips a new generation of storytellers with original African perspectives to produce compelling films and digital content. Matamba Film Labs provides a safe, non exploitative environment for women to learn new media storytelling skills (AR/VR/MR/AI/XR/Animation). Lastly, Matamba Film Labs engages with global filmmakers and organisations, producing commercial content for prime time, festivals and cinema to build knowledge and skills and confidence for storytellers.

Personal Bio

Siza Mukwedini is the founder and creative director for Matamba Film Labs. As an award-winning film producer, she’s produced various current affairs and documentary features on women and development issues for renowned broadcasters and distributors such as Al Jazeera, Arte and Voice of America VOA.

One of her notable works is her role as a producer of “Transactions,” an award-winning documentary on migration and remittances. Transactions premiered at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam — one of the world’s biggest documentary festivals.

Siza was awarded the Alumni Impact Award for Innovation, Information and Communication Technology by the U.S. Embassy in Harare. She was also selected for the 2015 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders for her role in using film as a tool for social engagement.
