bold idea

Improve healthcare access for low-income mothers and children in remote communities in Uganda by offering free, high-quality mobile clinics and capacity-building for healthcare workers.

organization overview

Infants’ Health Foundation (IHF) believes that no mother or child should get sick and die — regardless of circumstances, income, or proximity to a health facility. IHF collaborates with Uganda’s government health facilities to provide high-quality healthcare services to vulnerable, underserved populations. Infants’ Health Foundation focuses on low-income mothers and children.

IHF organizes monthly, one-day comprehensive mobile clinics that visit remote, difficult-to-reach communities. The mobile clinics offer free, high-quality, and timely, home-based maternal and child healthcare services through all stages of pregnancy. To sustainably improve service quality, IHF equips nurses and midwives with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver safe and respectful care.

Personal Bio

Sylivia Kyomuhendo is the founder and director of Infants’ Health Foundation, a grassroots organization dedicated to improving maternal child healthcare access in Uganda. Growing up in a remote village, it was difficult to access healthcare due to poverty and distant facilities. She tragically lost her sister and newborn niece to preventable complications. This experience ignited her passion for improving healthcare accessibility for vulnerable communities.

Sylivia holds a degree in community-based rehabilitation, an MPH, and a mini-MBA from the Management & Business Academy in the UK. She was recognized as Uganda’s first runner-up and the Top Female Entrepreneur of the Year at Total Startupper Competition, a Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Alumni, and a One Young World Ambassador. She is a keynote speaker at national and international healthcare conferences.
